Summer Stall

     The past 2 weeks I have been focused on family events and have lost enthusiasm for quilting projects.  I have done a lot of dress sewing to reduce my clothing fabric stash.  I also guided older GD to finish 2 more mug rugs for gifts. 

 

     I also assisted my sister Irene work her doll group booth at a guild quilt show. 

    The main thing I have been working on is lessons for embellishing a crazy quilt block. I signed up for Kathy’s free online class.  Check it out here.

This is my block so far. There will be bead work and silk ribbon added as well as some lace and charms.

I have learned a lot about using various stitches together to create interesting and beautiful motifs.

Hope I get more accomplished in August.

With summer storms we can stay inside and enjoy some time sewing or quilting.

Not Much Quilting Progress

     I have not done much sewing or quilting the past few days because I have been trying to entertain this little one with a broken leg. 

 For a few weeks at least she cannot put any weight on it.  Dresses are easier to put on so I am glad she can wear (has on in the photo) the dress I recently finished for her. 

   Today I started sewing strip sets for a “Wickedly Easy Quilt” designed by Annette Unrein. It is a free download from www.byannie.com.   

                                 

So far I have only sewn strip sets. I plan to make this quilt into a day bed quilted cover.

Sewing and Quilting Projects

     Last week was a wonderful week with granddaughters.  I spent July 4^th sewing a new dress for each.  Lily even wore hers the next day; however, I did not take pictures.  I did take a picture of her in her new Super Girl costume she wore for her birthday party.

     It was Super Hero fun.

Today I finished another summer dress and remembered to take a photo of it.   I found out this morning that she had a bike accident last evening and has a broken leg.

  

   

Hopefully she can slip this dress on easily so I will put it in the mail.

     I have spent several hours quilting on my scrappy anvil quilt last week.  I designed a free-motion point to point continuous design for the anvil blocks.  All 20 are quilted.

 

Here is a sketch of my design.  I quilted the red line first, then the green line. 

                              

Next I have to decide on how to quilt the large quarter square triangle alternate blocks.

   This Wednesday quilt group met at church.  I finished sewing the center part of this Carolina Chain.

 These blocks are easy leader/ender units.  However, this is my 3^rd comfort quilt of this pattern and I am ready for a different leader/ender block.
